Peer Tutoring Overview

Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) is the largest Sino-American university in China. Every year, WKU enrolls about 900 students. Due to the significant shift from traditional Chinese teaching style to the international environment, they found adapting to an English-teaching climate challenging.

Thus, the Student Academic Support and Retention Center (SASRC) at WKU recruits 49 peer tutors. Staff members organized 4 professional trainings for peer tutors about the methodology of teaching. In 2024-2025, There were 3954 visits to Tutoring Program across 1006 students. The number of times any individual student attended tutoring per course ranged from one visit to 32 visits with the satisfaction rate of  over 95%.

This TwPT Project is encouraged to make a profound observation into tutoring outcomes from different tutoring groups better to understand the effect of pedagogical training on tutoring and improve the tutoring program to support students.
