Tutors with Pedagogical Training Project (TwPT Project)

Peer Tutoring Overview
Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) is the largest Sino-American university in China. Every year, WKU enrolls about 900 students. Due to the significant shift from traditional Chinese teaching style to the international environment, they found adapting to an English-teaching climate challenging.
Thus, the Student Academic Support and Retention Center (SASRC) at WKU recruits 50 peer tutors, offering 186 tutoring courses in 21 majors. 4291 hours of one-on-one tutoring have been provided in 2023. About 21% of the undergraduates participated in the program.
This TwPT Project is encouraged to make a profound observation into tutoring outcomes from different tutoring groups better to understand the effect of pedagogical training on tutoring and improve the tutoring program to support underperforming students.
